英语中，politician 和 statesman 都有“政治家”的意思，有时候可以互换使用，但是它们之间还是有一些区别的，今天我们一起来学习一下。
例句1：Everyone knows that he is a wily politician.
谁都知道他是一个狡猾的政客。
例句2：As a senior politician, he knows how to deal with public opinion.
身为一位资深政客，他知道如何对付公众舆论。
例句3：It is well known that Thomas is a great statesman.
众所周知，托马斯是一位伟大的政治家。
例句4：Tom remained the most popular statesman in Ohio.

（对）Tom is a corrupt politician.
（错）Tom is a corrupt statesman.
以上两句想表达的是“汤姆是一个腐败的政客”。当我们用corrupt 这类含有贬义的词来形容“政治家”时，应当用politician而不用statesman.这一点大家一定要注意。
